Sorry I haven't blogged much lately. I blame it on the pregnancy and being too tired to want to do much. I feel a bit like Inigo Montoya in The Princess Bride when he says to Wesley, "Let me explain. No that will take too long. Let me sum up."
Ages ago we put an offer in on a house, and while we haven't heard back from the bank, we decided we didn't want that house. Why not? Because in November Ian was transferred from working in Park City to working in West Jordan. So we started looking at houses closer to Ian's new office. Those houses seem to be larger and newer than the ones we were looking at previously. We found a house that we both really liked and put on offer in on it November 4. Unfortunately, it is also a short sale, so we have yet to hear back from the bank.
Ian is enjoying his job in the new office. And while his commute time is still about the same (more traffic and dealing with more street lights) the mileage put on the car is about half of what it was before. And instead of working early morning shifts (possibly starting as early as 3am and usually being home by 6 pm), he seems to be working more evening shifts (often leaving for work after noon and getting home around 8pm).
In December we traded in our little Kia Sportage (which seats 5) for a used Toyota Highlander (which seats 7). Ian is really happy with the new vehicle. It gets better gas mileage, and will better fit our growing family. And it is a beautiful blue color.
Christmas was a quite affair with just our family. We again had a "wall tree" which Sarah had fun helping me decorate. After Christmas we loaded up the new car and broke it in by going on a road trip to visit Adam and Savannah and to visit Ian's parents. We really enjoyed seeing Adam, Savannah and Denali and spending a couple days with them. And we had a second Christmas with Ian's family. Sarah loved playing with her cousin Kiersten, whom she hadn't seen in about 10 months. And playing with all the new toys. I also spent a lot of time working on an evil 2000 piece puzzle that was half sky. But I did get to visit with my old Beehive advisor, Mona, whom I hadn't seen since Okinawa. I was glad she made the effort to come down and see me.
The last month seems to be a blur of not much. I have been pretty tired and unmotivated. We have continued to look at houses, though I no longer think I will have a new house before I have a new baby. Most of the houses in the price range we are looking at are short sales, and the ones that are not are, well, scary. They would require a lot of work and a lot of money to make them liveable. We put in 2 more offers, and we continue to look and wait for a larger home.
I've finally come to the realization that I need to start downsizing and organizing and putting things in boxes. So I have started. It is slow going, but at least I'm making an effort.
As far as the pregnancy is going.... I am 6 weeks away from my due date, and I keep telling myself I have 4-8 weeks until the baby comes. Hopefully that will help me prepare myself for whenever the baby decides to come. I'm at the stage where I don't know if I am ready for the baby to be here, but I am getting awfully tired of having a pregnant body. I feel bad for Ian, because he gets to hear me complain about it all the time. And about this time, I am wondering if I should have found out the gender of the baby. It would help me plan. I am glad that my sister in law posted the name she wants to use, because now I know not to choose it.
I am looking forward to the beginning of March-- Rebecca is coming!!! I can't wait until she gets here.
